1185 Films creates stage visuals for Boomtown Rats tour

When Bob Geldof and his band The Boomtown Rats decided to get back on the road in 2013, they wanted something special to illustrate their transition through the generations, from youthful new wavers to seasoned veterans.

They came to us with a vault of stills, posters and video, and asked us to create something memorable to be screened as an introduction to their live sets. We put together 40 minutes of animation that was vision-mixed as a moving background to their shows.

When gunshots in the film went off, 60,000 people hit the deck.

We also provided support and vision-mixed part of their tour, including the Isle of Wight festival. When gunshots in the film went off, 60,000 people hit the deck. It had a surprising effect and kicked off their set with a bang!
